Ashley Pearl Zentz, 34, and Armando Moreno, Jr., 50 — both of Edgewood — were charged in the February murder of Gerald Wayne Champ after his car was found in Baltimore County, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.
Champ, 71, was found dead in his home on Perry Avenue in Edgewood on Feb. 18, authorities said. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy, where it was determined he died from trauma to the upper body, and his death was ruled a homicide.
On Feb. 26, Champ's car was found in Middle River, and Zentz and Moreno were linked to the killing. The two apparently were involved in a similar incident the same day they killed Champ — a home invasion burglary, WMAR2News reports.
Warrants were issued for the arrests of Zentz and Moreno for first- and second-degree murder, assault and car theft, authorities said.
They were served with their arrest warrants on March 1 at the Harford County Detention Center, where they were being held without bail on unrelated charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
